May 5, 2011

Nestlé Egypt, a subsidiary of the largest food and beverage company worldwide, organized an event in celebration of the World Day for Health and Safety at Work under the slogan "Zero Injuries, Our Safety Comes First, and 100% Engagement". The main theme for the day was “SHAREK”, which refers to the importance of everyone’s engagement in safety through risk awareness and adopting key behaviors which contribute to a sustainable safety culture. The event was attended by Mr. Suresh Narayanan, Chairman and CEO of Nestle Egypt, the Management Team of North East Africa Region (NEAR), as well as over 700 Nestlé employees and associates at both sites in 6th of October City.

The celebration comprised a seminar on raising employees' awareness and the behaviors and controls that must be followed in their workplaces, in addition to various exciting events addressing Team Building, Coaching, Risk Management and Safety Leadership. Nestlé regards the celebration of the World Day for Health and Safety at Work as a key event in its calendar to ensure a sustainable work environment free of occupational risks, resulting in a positive impact on its productivity. Safety and health are an integral part of Nestlé creating shared value for its employees and their families, which further highlights the importance of the event.  Mr. Suresh Narayanan, Chairman & CEO of Nestle Egypt, emphasized that "Nestlé regards workplace safety a non-negotiable element of its operating philosophy.  Safety at work and safe behavior are vital elements of creating shared value which Nestlé realizes in practice across all of its operations".  It is worth mentioning that Nestlé has been celebrating the World Day for Health and Safety at Work for two years, striving to spread and embed a safety and health culture into the mindset of people inside and outside Nestlé.
